Research Topic:  In situ NMR measurements of Li metal anodes

PhD Supervisors: Prof. Clare Grey – Department of Chemistry

I work on developing in situ NMR techniques to study lithium (Li) metal anodes for next-generation batteries. In particular I look at the role of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on Li metal and how it influence the microstructural growth of Li metal which can result in Li dendrites and in the formation of inactive or ‘dead’ Li.
