Dr Karishma Jain is the Deputy Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (NanoDTC), at the University of Cambridge. Her primary background is in Chemistry and Materials Science, but her recent work has focussed on the interface of science and innovation. She has been strongly involved with science-based startups throughout her career, initially through her work at a Venture Capital firm and more recently as a mentor for several startups emerging from research ongoing at the NanoDTC. Dr Jain has an MSc in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, an MPhil in Micro- and Nanotechnology Enterprise from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Dr Jain teaches a science based innovation module for  Masters students with Physical Sciences and Engineering backgrounds and an elective module on innovation for Part III Physics students.
