Stephanie pursued an undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics and Chemistry, followed by a Masters degree in Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), before joining the NanoDTC.

She has previously worked on the development of green synthetic protocols for functional nanocomposite materials; these include luminescent cellulose films and biocompatible hydrogels for real-time human motion detection. During her mini projects, she explored the temperature-dependent behaviour of quantum emitters and plasmon-enhanced ferroelectric materials.

Stephanie is currently focused on fabricating heterostructure devices, designed to electrostatically gate single photon emitters in hexagonal boron nitride. Through this work, she aims to improve the (optical and spin) coherence of these emitters and elucidate the charge dynamics at play in this system.
