Applications are invited from Cambridge PIs for interdisciplinary midi+PhD project proposals for our new cohort of MRes+PhD students.

The deadline for project proposal submissions is Thursday, 14th Oct 2021, using the form available here.

Each incoming NanoDTC student completes two 8-week long Mini Projects (Dec-Feb and Feb-April) and a Midi project (3 months, May-Jul), before deciding on what PhD research to pursue.  The students are trained in various nano techniques before they start the projects (please see here for a list of practicals they will be doing this year). The students themselves are funded by the centre, and there is a budget for consumables to be used during the mini projects, as well as for the time of ‘daily supervisors’ – normally a Post Doc, or in some cases a senior PhD student.

We particularly encourage projects from PIs who have not had a NanoDTC student as primary supervisors in recent years.

We are also accepting Expressions of Interest for Midi+PhD proposals (for projects starting May/Oct 2022). Please complete this EoI form as soon as possible. Deadline for submissions of Midi+PhD EoIs is 7th Jan 2022.
